Congressman Joe Neguse visited Gilpin County on October 22, touring Timberline Fire Protection District’s Station 3 construction site and meeting with staff and volunteers at the Gilpin County Food Pantry.

The Nederland Fire Protection District (NFPD) has experienced a challenging year, but on Sunday, October 26, 2025, the community came to lend their firefighters a hand in christening the newest addition to the District’s fleet, and to push the fire engine through the bay doors into the station.

Trick-or-treating used to be a challenge for Gilpin County’s rural mountain children. The homes are so spread out that it is impractical to go door to door for a few morsels of candy— and that's if the surprised-to-see-you occupants had any to offer.

The Idaho Springs Elks Lodge was transformed into a Halloween spookfest on October 25 for the annual Howl at the Moon fundraiser. Costumes filled the room in every direction, and decorations lined every nook and cranny.
