Eagles lose close game, 33-35

Barbara Lawlor, Gilpin County.  The Gilpin High School girls’ basketball team came so close to a victory over the Rocky Mountain Lutheran Eagles in a home game Thursday, December 15, 2016, but couldn’t make up the third period gap.

 
After taking a 10-2 lead in the first period, they hung onto the eight point gap until the third period, when the RML Eagles jumped ahead by 13 points. The Gilpin girls, in spite of a strong comeback effort in the fourth period, couldn’t climb out of the hole.

 
Junior Cicely Lepro was the Player of the Game with 16 points. Jessica Wilhelm led with five rebounds. The girls now have a 1-3 record.
