Fall concert showcases talent

After all those hours of screechy practice, moaning and groaning and loud booms from a drum, it all comes together and parents are astounded that their music students are actually playing music.

Last Tuesday night, on October 18, 2016, the Nederland Middle Senior High School Fall Band and Orchestra Concert presented their first performance of the school year. The middle level band performed The Dragons of Komodo by John Kinyon as well as The Heavens Are Telling from “The Creation,” by Haydn.

The middle level band includes 12 students who play brass and percussion and appear to love doing it. Later on in the concert the middle level band and the orchestra played the finale from Symphony No.2 by Tchaikovsky and had the audience adding to the rhythm with their tapping feet.

The high school combined band and orchestra ended the concert with a rousing familiar rendition of a piece from “How to Train Your Dragon.”

There will be three other concerts during the school year and everyone is welcome to come and hear the music that the kids work hard to bring to the community.
