The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for Boulder County for Sunday, October 16, and a fire weather watch for Monday, October 17.
Under Boulder County *ordinance* [ http://www.bouldercounty.org/doc/sheriff/burnord141.pdf ], any burning — including open burning — during days that the National Weather Service has declared a red flag warning, a fire weather watch, or a high-wind watch or warning, is prohibited throughout unincorporated Boulder County. Any burning, including a campfire, that occurs on one of these watch or warning days could result in this issuance of a ticket with a minimum fine of $500.
If any burning is observed in unincorporated Boulder County on these days, please notify the sheriff’s office immediately at (303) 441-4444 or through the 9-1-1 system.
