Acers still undefeated

Barbara Lawlor, Nederland. As published in the print version July 7, 2016. With eight wins and no losses on their record, the Acers are out in front by three scores and show no signs of losing their grip of first place in the league. The season is more than half over with only 18 games to go in the regular season. Then the Tonya Putnam Memorial Championship Tournament will take place over the last week.

In the past week, the Champs have maintained their hold on second place, with a 4-2 record. The Blue Sox have leaped out of second from last place, beating the Champs and then last Thursday, June 30, 2016 they rolled over the Players putting the two teams in a tie for third place, both with a 4-5 record.

A few games have been postponed because of afternoon thunderstorms, but not as many as last year and things are pretty much on track as Wednesday night games are scheduled as makeup competitions.

On Thursday, July 7, 2016 The Blue Sox will play the Mean Machine at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. The Acers will play the Mean Machine, offering the MM’s a dual opportunity to climb out from the bottom of the standings, well, at least a chance to get a win.
