Barbara Lawlor, Nederland. The Nederland Cub Scouts Pack 170 of the Long’s Peak Council met at a picnic table overlooking Mud Lake to celebrate their crossover ceremony last Sunday at noon. It was a perfect day for lunch by the lake.
Crossing Over is the culmination of a year’s hard work and achieving merit badges toward the goal of moving up to the next step on the cub scout ladder and joining the ranks of the Boy Scouts.
It can also be the adult ritual of the present Cubmaster passing on the torch to the incoming Cubmaster. Terry Olson was thanked for his dedication to the pack and Josh Lake was welcomed as the new leader of the pack. Lex Ivey will be the assistant Cubmaster.
Tiger Cubs Judah Kaufman and Finn Fitzer graduated to Wolf Cubs.
Mason Ivey went from Wolf to Bear Cub.
Elijah Weiner went from Bear to Webelo.
Arik Olson and Kevin Ackerman went from Webelo to Boy Scouts and received the Arrow of Light.
Ezekiel Fitze finished his Webelo requirements.
After the last hot dog was devoured, the last flag rolled up and put away, the scouts met Erin Hartnett, Park Ranger for the Boulder County Parks and Open Space who offered them gloves and took them on a hike that involved cleaning up the trail, part of their community service responsibility.
