L. Keith Kinyon, 70, was born on September 6, 1945, in Greensburg, KS, to Calvin L. and Pauline A. Brown Kinyon and passed away March 23, 2016, at TRU Hospice Care Center in Louisville, CO. He graduated from Greensburg High School in 1963 and Kansas University in 1967, with a degree in political science. Keith joined the Navy shortly after graduating from college. After graduating from Officer Candidate School, he was part of the crew on the aircraft carrier Yorktown that was involved in the recovery of the Apollo 8 crew after their historic flight around the moon in 1968. After being discharged from the Navy, Keith returned to KU and completed a Masters in Business Administration degree. He soon began working for Ford Motor Company in Detroit, Ml, often traveling to Japan as well as living for 2 years in England.
Working for Ford Motor provided him with many fond memories. In 1998, he retired to his cabin in the Colorado mountains. Soon after moving to his cabin, he rescued Phydo, his beloved dog. Keith knew when he got a dog he would name it Fido. Phydo is the feminine spelling of Fido!! In 2001, Keith built a house in the mountains near Black Hawk, Colorado. He and Phydo enjoyed life together. Phydo’s death in 2011 was extremely hard for Keith.
Keith is survived by a brother Charles K. (Glenda) Kinyon of Milliken, CO, and a sister Cindy (Darrel) Webber of Firestone, CO, nieces and nephews.
