Gilpin girls bring in loss, win

Barbara Lawlor,  Gilpin County.   In the last three weeks, the Gilpin High School girls lost a one-point game and won a 29-point game. On Saturday, Jan. 9, the Eagles suffered a 34-35 loss against the South Park Burros, who are now 4-6.

Beginning slowly, Gilpin was down by six at the end of the first period, but scored 13 points in the second period to come back with a 17-16 lead by halftime. It was a neck to neck third period with Gilpin staying ahead by three points, only to give up four points in the fourth period.

On Jan. 11, the Eagles hosted the Denver Jewish Day School Tigers and after dominating the game, beat them 49-20, giving them a 4-6 overall record.
