Jen Lavely, Nederland. Greetings Sports Fans! Announcing even more ways to stay active and have fun this summer – Open Gym at NMSHS.
Staffed by Nederland MSHS school coaches throughout the summer, youth are invited to drop in during open gym hours to join a formalized practice/workout or just show up to do their own active thing. Coaches are there not only to supervise activities and provide access to the school’s sports’ equipment, but to serve as a resource to our developing youth athletes; music and theatre students who are looking for some extra fitness to help them through the performance season; or to students curious about activities they’ve never tried before!
Come join us for a relaxing afternoon of activity! Why not?! It’s free!
Here are the details:
Open Gym @ NMSHS
June 2 – August 13 (closed week of 6/29-7/3)
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:00 – 7:00 pm
Fridays, 6:30 – 7:30 pm
Gyms, the weight room, yoga/stationary bike room, the field and track will be open for use during all open gym hours. Try some new activities or equipment this summer. Play a game; shoot hoops. Kick, jump, sprint. Whatever you like, it’s here!
In general, expect to find Coach Gioia on Tuesdays; coaches Jones, Metzger, Nation and Lavely on Tuesdays and Thursdays; coach Lavely on Fridays.
If you want to be sure to find a coach on a certain day, contact her/him directly.
For those of you wanting/needing a little structure for your workouts, here are some specific activities for you to try out!
4:00 – 6:00 pm Basketball w/Coach Gioia
4:30 – 5:45 pm Speed & Agility w/Coach Lavely (starts 6/23)
5:00 – 6:00 pm Volleyball w/Coach Nation
6:00 – 7:00 pm Cross Training/Fitness w/Coach Lavely (starts 6/23)
4:00 – 5:00 pm Running Form w/Coach Lavely (starts 6/18)
5:00 – 6:00 pm Cross Training/Fitness w/Coach Lavely (starts 6/18)
6:00 – 6:30 pm Injury Prevention Exercises w/Coach Lavely (starts 6/18)
6:00 – 7:00 pm Football w/Coaches Jones & Metzger
6:30 – 7:30 pm Friends and Family Run/Walk w/Coach Lavely (starts 6/19)
NOTE: Any activity coordinated by me (Jen) on the above schedule is open to youth, their families, and our community members! I really hope to see a crowd this summer as we work together on our personal training goals!
