Bob Shannon, 64, resident of Rollinsville, Colorado for six years, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospital after surgery, with his wife Sherri by his side.
He had a couple heart attacks during the last four years, and after awakening in recovery went into cardiac arrest, most likely from a blood clot. His family appreciates all the support from friends and family.
A native of Sissonville, WV and former Union Carbide employee (pipefitter), Bob and his family traveled for seven years in a large RV, living in Ohio, Kentucky, Missouri, Texas, and Alaska while working for various engineering, refinery, and chemical companies as a Senior Piping Designer before settling in Colorado and working at Suncor, Denver for the last nine years.
He was a loving husband, best friend, and strength to his surviving wife of 30 years, Sherri, and devoted father to his surviving son Michael, age 24.
He has joined his parents, Robert Russell and Catherine Louise Shannon, with Christ and is survived by his sisters: Janet (Travis) Hocum, Diana Shannon, and Debbie Shannon and his parents-in-law Clyde Roy and Ida May Bird and various aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Bob loved spending time with his family and dropping by to visit with neighbors on Gamble Gulch and friends in Nederland. He always made friends everywhere he went. He touched many lives with his energy, sweet soul, smile and humor; always put his family before himself; and was always telling his son family stories. He loved skiing, hiking, biking, and camping.
Bob hand built their home in WV and a good deal of their custom home in CO. The project in WV included both his and his wife’s families joining together in family work and fun. There are still a number of small “tools” lost inside the walls of the WV home.
The funeral and burial was held in Sissonville, WV, but an informal celebration of his life for his friends and co-workers will be held at 7 pm Thursday, December 18, at East Boulder Baptist Church 7690 West Baseline Rd.
