Gilpin Booster Club cards earn $20,000

LettersDear Editor,

The Gilpin County Booster Club is excited to share some wonderful news with the community.

The King Soopers Card Program has earned the school $20,000 over the last 3 ½ years. Big thanks to all of the parents and community members who participate in this program and who have made it a success. 57% of the donation has gone back to the kids and has helped support such programs as the 6th grade Outdoor Education trip and other class expenses.

The Booster Club portion of the fundraiser has been used for scholarships, academic and athletic awards dinners, and a wide range of other programs that Booster Club provides to support our students in their endeavors.

It all starts when someone purchases a reloadable $5 gift card from the Booster Club. Each time money is added to the card, 5% is donated back to our school. The cycle continues as we add money, purchase groceries and gas with the card, and add money again. As long as there is money on the gift card, it will not expire. As we are approaching the 2014/2015 school year, which begins in a couple of weeks, the Booster Club is always looking for volunteers.

The Gilpin County Booster Club is unique by focusing on all aspects of a child’s educational experience by supporting academics, the arts and athletics. Parents and community members alike can get involved by supporting such programs as the King Soopers Card Program. There are several volunteer opportunities and events that parents and community members can get involved in. The Booster Club’s next meeting will be held on August 6th at 6:00 p.m. For more details please email
