His resignation required a flurry of Council activity. He filed a separate agreement and the Mayor signed it. The signature was ratified and the Council approved it. The City also agreed to sign a contract with consultant Ron Miller to conduct the search for a new city manager. The contract will cost $13,500 plus expenses. The mayor and City Council will constitute the search committee, and the list of finalists will be provided to the public. Mayor Ron Engels said each member of the Council will sit down and tell them what they want in a manager. Miller will then do the initial screening and bring a short list to the committee. The committee will narrow the list to four or five candidates and bring them in for an interview. They will meet with the staff and the public. The process will take four to six months and they will discuss finding an interim replacement. They will begin discussions with staff members Friday, February 21.
