Panther girls seek win

It was a rough week for the Nederland High School girls’ basketball team, losing two consecutive games, giving them a 0-3 record. They are working hard to come up with a win and the two senior leaders have a tough row to hoe guiding a young team, some of whom have not played basketball before, while they learn the skills.
On Thursday, December 12, the Panthers hosted the Shining Mountain Lions and fell behind 14-31. The score at halftime was 2-18, Amanda Cook being the only one to score. In the third period, Nederland’s defense upped their game, holding the Lions to 13 points while they scored 12. The last period was a wash, with neither team finding the basket.
The Panthers fought hard and made their way back into the game in the second half.
On Saturday, December 14, the girls traveled to Byers and the Bulldogs got a jaw hold on a 23-67 win.
There are no statistics available for individual performances.
The next home game for the Ned girls is a long way away in the new year. On Tuesday, January14, they will host Liberty Common at 5 p.m. Liberty Common is in first place in the league with a 7-0 record.
