The Gilpin County Eagle boys basketball team came onto the court last Tuesday, January 7, and played like a team that just had a couple weeks of vacation. When the game could have gone either way the Gilpin boys gave it their all and pulled off the win, 57-55 against Denver Waldorf.
It was the first home game of the 2014 season and the Eagles now have a 4-4 record to start the new year.
It was a fast, close start. Waldorf led by two points at the end of first period and three points by halftime. The Eagles were able cut the lead by the fourth period and then grab the two point lead.
Senior Morgan Foelsch was everywhere, accumulating a double double, 16 points and 10 rebounds.
