Panthers lose two in three

The Nederland Panther volleyball team lost two consecutive home games last week bringing their season record to 3-14. In both matches, the girls were competitive until the end of each game and fell apart in the third game of each match.
But they maintain teamwork and sportsmanship and challenge all of their opponents to step up to the game.
On Thursday, Oct. 10, the Panthers hosted Resurrection Christian and lost the three-game match, 0-3. Game scores were 12-25, 14-25 and 4-25.
On Saturday, Oct. 12, the girls competed in their homecoming match Union Colony, which was also a shutout match with game scores of 12-25, 18-25 9-25 .
Volleyball seniors were honored during the morning game. They were Ally Jewell, Abbey Coffman, Kayla Prince, Amanda Cook, Brenda Waggerby, Cori Januzzi and Abbey Coffman.
Januzzi and Cook led the team in offensive attacks and Kayla Prince and Maggie Rockett had a strong defensive game.

The Panthers will travel to Gilpin County this Thursday, Oct. 17. They lost in a previous 5-game, spectacular match and are preparing to win back the mountain challenge. The JV team will play at 5 p.m. and the varsity game will be at 6 p.m.
