Officers find a missing person, traffic fatality

On Aug. 5, at about 9:30 p.m., deputies took a report of a missing person at1319 Columbine Campground Road. With the assistance from other agencies, the deputies searched for the missing party. The party was unable to be located and the party was listed as a missing person. A deputy completed a report on the incident.
On Aug. 7, a Deputy responded to an incident regarding found property on a charge of internet luring of a child. The reporting party was found to have his driving privileges canceled. He was issued a proof of service, and his driver`s license was sent to the Colorado Department of Revenue.
On May 6, Gilpin County Deputies were working with the Jefferson County District Attorney`s Office as part of a joint task force targeting regarding internet luring of a child. On this day, Aug. 13, a 59-year-old Denver Firefighter was arrested by DA Investigators and Gilpin County Deputies when he attempted to meet an underage child for sex. He was also charged with attempting to obtain sexually explicit images of a minor.
On Aug. 8, at about 2:05 a.m., an inmate at the Gilpin County Detention Facility became combative and destructive. To protect the inmate, county property and employees the inmate was placed in a restraint chair. While being placed in the chair the inmate spit into the face, mouth and eyes of a police officer. It was discovered the inmate had damaged property in a jail holding cell. The inmate was booked into the jail on Second-Degree Assault and Criminal
Mischief.
On Aug. 9, at about 1:45 p.m, Deputies were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Highway 119 Mile Post 13.5 involving a motorcyclist. When deputies arrived a male party who was driving the motorcycle had collided with a pickup truck. The motorcyclist had died at the scene and an investigation was conducted by the Colorado State Patrol.
On Aug. 10, a Deputy responded to a report of shots being fired. The Deputy contacted an individual who was firing weapons and had a previous felony conviction. The individual was placed under arrest for possession of weapon by previous offender.
On Aug.11, at about 2:55 a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle for weaving. The driver was later arrested and booked into the Gilpin County Jail for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.
On Aug.13, at about 4:05 a.m., a deputy responded to an assault call. Upon speaking with the victim, it was determined that the third-degree assault had occurred in Boulder County. The case was turned over to the Boulder County Sheriff`s Office
On Aug. 13, the Gilpin County Sheriff`s Office obtained a warrant for a 33-year-old Texas man for child sexual exploitation charges. The suspect was currently in the Jefferson County Jail for similar charges. A joint search with the Jefferson County District Attorney’s
Office of the suspect`s cell phone turned up over a hundred child pornography videos of children as young as three years old. The investigation is ongoing.
On Aug. 14, at about 1 p.m., a male party was arrested on an active warrant out of Denver Marshals’ Office for Failure to Appear – Contempt of Court. The male party was processed into the Gilpin County Jail without incident.
On Aug. 14, at about 2:30 p.m., a party was arrested on Violation of a Protection order in the Gilpin County Combined Courts. The party was processed into the Gilpin County Jail without incident.
On Aug. 15, a Deputy responded to a report of a dog-at-large. A report was completed on the incident.
On Aug.17, at about 5 a.m., a deputy was requested to assist the Black Hawk Police Department with a call involving a fall victim. The Deputy responded and spoke with witnesses. The fall victim was later pronounced deceased.
On Aug. 17, a Deputy was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with property damage. When the Deputy arrived on scene there was no vehicle present. A report was taken on the crash.
On Aug. 18, a Deputy stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation of Displayed Expired Number Plates that occurred within unincorporated Gilpin County, Colorado. A citation was issued and the vehicle was towed. No further action was taken.
