Nederland TCAP Scores Party!
During the school year of 2011 – 2012, the 9th and 10th graders took the ‘dreadfully boring’ TCAP standardized tests. They studied (sort of) and pushed through the hours of sitting and listening to the endless scratching of pencils on paper.
Those hours of boredom and yawning has paid off. On October 4th, 2012, those 9th and 10th graders (now 10th and 11th graders) were thrown a small party in honor of their high TCAP scores. They have the highest Reading scores in Boulder Valley, the 3rd highest Math scores in Boulder Valley (they were beaten out by Peak to Peak and Centaurus), and the highest Writing scores in the nation. To celebrate the high scores, the staff took those students outside (it was kind of cold that day) and grilled some burgers.
Principal Lynn Donnelly says, “The burger party was a to say thank you for getting high scores on the TCAPs and for representing our school.”
“It’s awesome that the classes are so dedicated to academics. I’m so proud of them,” says Aly Shambo, the school counselor.
So, despite the leg cramps and the pencil tapping, well done, 10th and 11th graders of NMSHS!
Here’s a shout-out to the teachers who helped their students get through the TCAPs:
Thank you for all your help!!
